The engine and the work horse of the association, the Hon Secretary, Dr J C Sharma (1978-82), Dr S C Kasliwal (1982-87), Dr Mahesh Udawat (1987-92), Dr Rakesh Bhargava (1992-95) Dr Rajeshwar Kalla (1995-97), Dr Trilok Gupta (1997-2002), Dr Mahesh Bansal (2002-04), Dr Shailendra Sharma (2004-06), Dr Mohan Mantri (2006-08), Dr C K Ameta (2008-12), Dr Anurag Talesra (2012-14), Dr Jaswant Singh (2014-16), Dr Jayant Sen (2016-20) and Dr Rahul Katta (2020-24) built the association with hard work and dedication.

Dr Mohan Mantri (2006-08) worked on developing the association – the Life membership was organized and a directory made, the accounts were stream lined and contribution from the organizing team of ROSACON to ROSA account was started at the Sikar conference in 2007. Mid Term meetings were also organized – Lower limb trauma(2007) and Upper limb trauma (2008).

Dr C K Ameta (2008-12) gave further impetus to the association. ROSA Voice publication was started. It had updates on the happenings of ROSA and the orthopaedic world and some academic content. ‘Dr Vinod Jaskaran Porwal Gold Medal’ for the Best PG Paper at ROSACON was started in 2009 with contribution from Dr Vinod Porwal (Udaipur). ROSA website www.rosaindia.org was launched. GBM Jodhpur 2010 passed the amendment that the ROSA office shall shift to the city of the Hon. Secretary, consolidation of all funds (special efforts of Dr Trilok Gupta and Dr Mohan Mantri) and the use of PAN card No. AAAAR3992F made during the tenure of Dr Trilok Gupta to be used for all ROSA financial matters. Dr Ramesh Meena was elected as the President of Central Zone of IOA (2010) and organized the CEZCON at Jaipur. IOACON 2010 was organized by Dr Rakesh Bhargava at Jaipur. 2010 was a remarkable year as it held the ROSACON (State Conference), CEZCON (Zonal Conference) and the IOACON (National Conference) in Rajasthan. At the GBM at Shri Ganganagar in 2011 the decision to hold the conference alternately at Medical College and district hospital level was amended and now would be held as per the best bid received. Also amended was the requirement of alternate President and Hon. Secretary from academic and private sector and now was open to all. Also for the first time a cadaveric workshop (Knee Arthroscopy) was organized at ROSACON at Shri Ganganagar.

Dr Anurag Talesra (2012-14) worked on increasing membership and continuing the recent initiatives of academic meetings and financial consolidation.

Dr Jaswant Singh (2014-16) stressed on academic events. Diamond Jubilee IOACON 2015 was organized by Dr Ramesh Meena at Jaipur. Fellowship program at Jaipur for Arthroplasty was initiated.

Dr Jayant Sen (2016-20) worked tirelessly to streamline the functioning of ROSA. As per the directives of GBM Neemrana 2016 the ROSA Constitution amendment was initiated. The constitution and Blue book were first discussed with the Constitution amendment committee, then put to the executive committee and then to all members of ROSA before its adoption at GBM Jodhpur 2017. The new constitution and Blue Book were in tune with the IOA Constitution. The systematic and planned work of the Committee and its convenor Dr Jayant Sen was appreciated by all during GBM Jodhpur 2017. ROSA Fellowships were initiated at all levels. In 2016, an International Fellowship with the British Indian Orthopaedic Society (BIOS) at UK with the support of the Jaipur Orthopaedic Society was started. Special mention of the financial support by Dr Rakesh Bhargava by donating the savings of the IOACON 2010 to Jaipur Orthopaedic Society, Dr Anand Arya (UK) for his active role in BIOS and Dr Jayant Sen in co-ordinating the work made the ROSA –JOS Overseas Fellowship a reality. National Fellowships were started with support also from Dr Naresh Goyal (ROSA – C S Goyal Fellowship in Arthroplasty and Arthroscopy with Dr Sachin Tapasvi) in 2016, Dr Rajeev Siwach ( ROSA- Smt. Saraswati Siwach Fellowship in Paediatric Orthopaedics) in 2017, Dr Ramesh Meena (ROSA – Dr M P Udawat Fellowship in Foot & Ankle surgery) in 2018 and Orthopaedic Research and Education Fund - Dr Naveen Mathur and Dr S P Agarwal at Jodhpur (ROSA – Dr JC Sharma Fellowship in Spine surgery at Ganga Hospital, Coimbatore with Dr S Rajasekaran) in 2019. ROSA Voice was made a quarterly event with news, views, member’s achievements, upcoming events and academic content. The quality of the magazine was also enhanced with improved paper quality, lay out, printing and publication. The Best paper published in ROSA Voice would be bestowed the Shri Ganpat Rai Sharma ji Gold Medal donated by Dr Shailendra Sharma. All ROSA Gold medals and Oration awards were standardized with ROSA logo. A regular message system was brought on to share updates on important events with reminders to all members. The all new ROSA website (www.rajortho.org) was established to connect all members to the virtual world as the previous website had gone defunct. Academic activities were organised and supported. Specialty work was encouraged and various National level meetings held (Arthroplasty / Arthroscopy / Hand / Spine / Paediatric Orthopaedics / Foot & Ankle / Cartilage/ Trauma, etc). More than 30 academic meetings of high quality were held across the state in a year. Many academic meetings of IOA (IOA Excellence Program /IJO Scientific Writing & Research Methodology Course / IOA Action Program) were held in Rajasthan. Publication was encouraged and a ‘Best Publication Award’ and ‘Best case report’ award (Financial incentive) was started with the support of Jhurani Education trust. The strength of an association is in its numbers. More than 310 new members joined ROSA in 4 years as the strength of the association increased by more than 55% to 858 members. This lead to increased awareness and leading national level functionaries were attracted to interact with ROSA members. Also ROSA members started occupying important positions in various national organizations (Dr Rajesh Goyal - President of Central Zone of IOA (2016) Dr Anoop Jhurani – President Indian Arthroplasty Association (2019) and Dr Ramesh C Meena – President IOA (2020). ROSA Accounts were further stream lined with Dr Rahul Katta, Treasurer working hard and Income tax refund was received for the first time.

Dr Rahul Katta (2020-24) brought new energy to the working of the association. Early on his term the COVID pandemic struck. Physical meetings were not possible. Regular webinars covering various aspects were started with International, National and State faculty from all across Rajasthan. City chapters were integrated to take leadership roles in organizing the webinars. The first ever virtual conference ‘Mid Term ROSACON 2020’was organized by Dr Rahul Katta and established ROSA as amongst the foremost associations. Along with other social media channels – you tube, face book, twitter, whatsapp and telegram groups the virtual world presence was established. As the COVID pandemic continued to rage the Annual conference ROSACON 2021 and GBM in January 2021 was also organized by him on the virtual platform – indeed a landmark achievement with great innovation in challenging times. IOA membership crossed the 500 mark and the ROSA membership the 1000 mark. ROSA website www.rosaindia.org was upgraded and made more interactive.

Notable is the fact that during this period under the banner of ROSA, IOACON were organized three times at Jaipur by Dr C S Sharma (2000), Dr Rakesh Bhargava (2010) and Dr R C Meena (2015).

And you who fill the places we once filled. And follow in the furrows that we tilled young man, whose generous hearts are beating high We who are old and about to die. Salute you, hail you , take your hands in ours. And urgeyou to share and grow.
